Lab of Labs: Workforce Integration of Refugees in The Netherlands

In November 2023, The Hague Humanity Hub members Piero Gandini and Yiğit Aksakoğlu launched Lab of Labs: a social laboratory for radical social transformation. The first laboratory sought to host a series of conversations and, preferably, actionable steps forward around labor integration, representation, and exclusion in the Netherlands. During the first session, the Restorative Justice principles guided open conversations that fostered understanding and encouraged participation and reflection. This discussion was designed to prepare the scene for a more objective debate about inclusive hiring practices for organizations in peace and justice regarding refugees and asylum seekers.

Between March and May 2024, we ran a survey to learn from Executives, Managers, and HR professionals about the current policies and labor participation dynamics within the peace and justice community of the Hague, focusing on individuals with refugee status and those from minority backgrounds.

The survey answers are in, and we’re eager to gather respondents and non-respondents at The Hague Humanity Hub to discuss the results and open the conversation beyond survey questions.

This session is open to all professionals interested in exploring what can be done to improve hiring practices and DEI policies and better understand the state of play for organizations in the Netherlands.
